Maddy McGehee is completing her Bachelor of Music, emphasizing piano performance in March 2024. She started playing the piano at age 7. Her musical education evolved from Rock Band themed instruction to classical music. In high school, she joined her award-winning Santiago High School marching and jazz bands, where she picked up playing various instruments, including the marimba, vibraphone, and synths. Maddy’s musical influences include classical music, such as Yuja Wang, Claude Debussy, and Alexander Tcherepnin, and blues and jazz artists Thelonious Monk and Bill Evans. Her contemporary musical influences are as eclectic as her journey, including Cory Henry, M.I.A., littleDNGR, Joey Navarro, Dan Auerbach, The Meters, and Billie Eilish. Maddy’s performances have taken her worldwide and across the states, including the Rose Parade, Carnegie Hall, and the Southern California Ambassadors of Music European Concert Tour 2018. Since 2020, she has played/recorded with musicians such as Chris Wabich, Jerry Watts, Mitch Forman, Joey Navarro, Anokhi, Marián Mulock, Mari (“thisismarisworldworld”), Kennedy Ray, and David Spitzfaden. Maddy’s mentors include Lisa Harriton, Mitch Forman, Joey Navarro, and Carey Frank.
